So many lives you have positively impacted since 2007 with your exuberant spirit and spunky personality teaching others that we can all achieve great things no matter what.

Just when I think I love you as deeply as I can, another day, month and year goes by, and I find myself loving you even more than I ever thought possible.

You are one of the greatest joys of my life, my sweet little girl. Wishing the best birthday ever!!

Update on Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's Memorial Service

One week from today, Sparkles' memorial service will be held at the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Walk of Honor at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Helping out Emma Zen

Hi Frankie!

You know how we both like to help out good causes to make this world a better place? I just had to share this with you!

Our good friend, Emma Zen is trying to raise money to purchase oxygen masks for fire departments. The fire safety dogs and I wanted to help out, so we are sent Emma Zen 5 copies of Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog books and 5 audio books. This book has been credited with helping save the lives of 9 people and we are so happy to help support a good cause!

Like you, we help out with many causes. Some of our causes include helping Target's Bunker along with Surf Dog Richochet, the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation, and supporting the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Nominated as Most Heroic Dog of 2010 by USA Today

Wanted to let you know that Sparkles has been nominated for USA Today's Most Heroic Dog of 2010. Here's the information!

Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog, rescued from a home with 62 other dogs and who helped save the lives of 7 children and 2 adults from fire with her fire safety efforts, has been nominated for USA Today's Most Heroic Dog of 2010.

Sparkles is honored to share this nomination with four other amazing dogs, including Target, who was an amazing heroic dog and helped save the lives of 50 soldiers. Target is a hero in our hearts and we know that she is truly deserving of this award. We do hope that Sparkles can come in second.

Five year old Angelica shared this story with me, "Firefighter Dayna~ I was in bed under the 'cobers' and the smoke came. I crawled out of bed and crawled low, just like Sparkles [the Fire Safety Dog] showed me to. I said, 'C'mon daddy, you have to get on the floor and crawl low like Sparkles.'"

By this time, her dad was disoriented because he had been standing in the smoke filled room. Thankfully, he was able to follow Angelica out of the house. The firefighters later shared with me that Angelica's father followed her out of the home and they said that as soon as he reached the door, the firefighters scooped him up and took him to the hospital (where he spent 7 days~ 4 in ICU). Immediately after they carried him away from the front door, the firefighters stated that the home flashed over (a "flashover" is where the home totally becomes engulfed in flames).

Although Sparkles recently passed away, her passion for helping keep children fire safe will live on. Thank you to USA Today for nominating Sparkles and for helping raise awareness of the importance of fire safety.

Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's latest campaign, along with the other fire safety dogs, Tango and Siren, is to help raise $29,000 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit Foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers. Sparkles work also continues through her foundation, the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation, dedicated to helping keep children fire safe.

You know how excited I have been about you being in a book ("Dogs and the Women who Love Them")? Well, I am finally in a book too, and I am dying to tell you about it!

I'm one of the 60 dogs featured in a new book by Happy Tails Books, entitled, "Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories About Dogs." The book can be found at www.happytailsbooks.com or Amazon.com. How cool is that?!?

What's really cool about Happy Tails Books is that they donate a significant portion of proceeds back to the rescue groups who help gather stories for the books. Hey Sparkles, Siren and Tango! Sounds like your whirlwind tour is going wonderfully- hot diggity dog! My mom and I are enjoying seeing your updates on Facebook.

My super dooper papa finished my dog house which moved to Bookworm Gardens yesterday. Bookworm Gardens is a place for kids to explore nature, read books, be inspired, be creative... and well, just be dog gone kids living life to the fullest in gardens that are simply magical.

It is a great honor to be included in this garden, which means many, many children will learn about me and it is my hope they will be inspired to always be positive and make a difference. My mom made this little video of the big morning! Here's the link:
